Automated solution for generating SCORM and xAPI courses

We were asked for a technology solution to facilitate the creation and management of digital courses in SCORM and xAPI formats. The client needed a system that simplified content production from various formats, ensuring correct integration and operation in online learning environments.

The goal was to offer a customised platform adapted to their needs, with an accessible base template and an automated process that sped up course generation while maintaining quality and accessibility standards.

What was the challenge?

A tool had to be developed capable of transforming diverse content into interactive courses, guaranteeing correct export and compatibility with learning platforms:

Configure and customise a platform to fit the client’s specific requirements.
Develop an accessible, functional base layout for the courses.
Automate content extraction from InDesign, PDF and JSON files.
Integrate multimedia elements and various interactions (tests, activities and multimedia files, among others).
Validate the correct operation of each course before delivery.

What was the process?

Platform analysis and configuration

A detailed study of the requirements was carried out, followed by the tailored customisation of the system to guarantee compatibility with future content.
Design and development of the base template

A base layout compliant with accessibility standards was created, with verification tools to ensure quality and visual consistency.
Automation of content import

A process was implemented that automatically extracts information from the formats provided (InDesign, PDF, JSON) to facilitate the creation and loading of materials into the courses.
Integration of interactive and multimedia elements

Resources such as videos, audio and interactive activities (single choice, multiple choice, flash cards, etc.) were incorporated, with management adapted to each type.
Course validation and export

The courses were uploaded to a test platform for the client to review and, once approved, the final version was delivered in SCORM or xAPI format.
Ongoing maintenance

Support was provided throughout the collaboration to guarantee operability and facilitate any subsequent adjustments.
